Purpose

The purpose of LOBIS arises from the real need for structuring and faster development of research activities and education in the specific field of profession / science that the LOBIS would have and develop, which in the current framework of the University North needs strategic expansion. Planned scientific research activities and projects within future cooperation of the LOBIS would include sustainability components with close connection with industries from the Republic of Croatia, Kingdom of Spain, the European Union, and the world, with the aim of ensuring sustainability and sustainable development. Sustainable development, inaugurated by a series of national strategic documents, and especially emphasized by European acquis communautaire of which both Croatia and the Spain are members, requires the application of the principles of the concept of sustainable development, process management, communication with the public, the development of a new system, in which the relationship with the environment occupies an important place. The primary focus of the LOBIS will be directed towards aligning the scientific curriculum of both parties with strategies based on sustainability and sustainable development focused on food technology, biotechnology and nutrition.
